I eventually had to purchase Wellie’s. A sales assistant looked quite stunned when Chris asked where we could buy ‘gum boots’ from. Ended up in an outdoors/camping shop and I ended up with these stunners….

Shoes
After the two pairs of boots I brought from home broke (my Pocahontas boots tore away from the sole and my leather boots have a tiny hole in the toe which lets the water and snow in) the hunt was on for new shoes. Londoner’s footwear seems to be a choice of Uggs (the Aussie ones which they are willing to pay £200+ for) or Wellie's. Needless to say they look like people at home going to the Croydon market in their best going out moccasins.
Regular boots here are either cheap and nasty or ridiculously overpriced. That being said shoes are sold everywhere from the local supermarket to every chain and department store and also online (my best bet for future shoe purchases).
Not bad considering my feet are dry and I can fit 2 pairs of explorers underneath.
